A Little About Me

Started climbing as a teenager in Oregon. Career took me to the midwest for 11 years in the 70s and 80s, but when I moved my family back to the Northwest, I got my daughters into climbing a lot. Actually we started a highpoint quest in 1984 when we were still in Chicago, and by the time they graduated from high school in the early 1990s, we had been to over 40 state highpoints. I've now visited 49. I decided long ago that I was not going to attempt Denali, having spent 40 hours on Aconcagua at the same elevation as its summit (20,320) in 1997 with 5 people in a 3-man tent surviving a wind storm. I worked with Jimmy Hinkhouse in Boeing Marketing from 1988 to 1994, and thus was involved with him in the beginnings of OSAT - One Step At a Time. OSAT is still the source of most of my climbing companionship. THANKS TO MY WIFE, HOLLY, FOR LETTING ME PURSUE MY PASSION! Now that I've retired, I hoped to get in more climbing, but a lot of other agendas have come along! Keep climbing mountains, and don't slip!
