You've done a fine job in adding to this page and it will get people to the summit with no doubt. Great job on this summit and have a wonderful week. Don't be shy to add more mountain pages if you have the info. Have a good one!
Thanks for adding this peak...it's nice to see AZ with more representation...let me know when you're finished and I'll up my vote! : ) It's off to a great start...I would add a little info in the getting there section for people who aren't familar with the area....GOOD JOB! Vote changed...: )
Jennifer, thanks... to be honest I've climbed hundreds of mountains not listed on SP and wasn't sure I wanted to put a single one up - usually it just means more folks come to the mountain, trash the place, ruin the land, etc. After a moral debate with myself I've decided to actually put one or two up anyway.
So, still working on it - thanks and I'll let you know when I'm done....
Attm, thanks for the suggestions. I'm an experienced climber but a rank newbie at making these mountain pages. I'm still working on this one and your comments help out -
One of the strengths of SP is that the different postings show how varying and diverse mountain terrains are from one another. To me, Thimble Peak and the surrounding area might as well be on another planet, and it's nice to see it! Thanks for posting!
I agree with the suggestions and comments already here, so won't bother repeating what's been said, but I have a question: you make the observation about danger from rattlesnakes and mountain lions, and that those entering the area should take appropriate precautionary measures. Mountain lions I'm familiar with, but rattlesnakes are not an issue where I normally climb; it might be good to supplement your warning with some specifics as to just what precautions one should take. If I was to climb in this area I really wouldn't know what to do to protect myself from snake encounters, or actions to take during such. Anyway, just a thought on my part--thanks again for taking the time to post something probably many of us never get to see!
Very good page for your first effort. I agree with most of what has been said by the previous voters. I know that the hardest section of a page is the overview but I think that you should be a little more specific.
Suggestions:
Which mountains/ranges are in the area?
Popularity - is it crowded up there?
Rock composition?
Is there only one route?
Is it located in a national/regional park?
...
Together you'll get two or three paragraphs and things will look even brighter!
A couple things..."And if you've already got a national park pass, they'll slap a little hologram on it to show that you've paid up for the year." why not just say..."Golden Eagle passes accepted"?
And...the Catalina Mountains Annual Pass is $20.00 not $15.00
Rob, thanks for the help. I wasn't sure how the passes worked - I had to pay and they put a hologram on my annual pass. But you've got some official info, so thanks again -

Untitled CommentYes... well, I'll be more than happy to share with others!
As long as they treat things with respect. If I EVER see empty cans of beer on top of Thimble.....
Oh, all done here. Check it out if you get time!

Untitled CommentA really distinctive peak. It belongs here on summitpost.
Nice info about the mountain lions, too. Wonder how many are in that area?
