You are the official King of the Spruce Creek Drainage! All you need is Father Dyer Peak and you'll complete the collection. I'd love to do the Spruce Creek Grand Slam and hike the entire crest from Peak 10 all the way to Mount Helen. I know you're not done with this one yet, but it looks pretty good already.
I do really enjoy this area... I have plenty of info for Father Dyer, but I lack photos. I plan on getting back up there in a little while to ski some of Dyer's slopes above Lower Crystal, so maybe then.
That traverse would be a workout. Let me know if you ever pull it off.
Thanks for the vote. I've done the ridge you are talking about. It is fun! I don't have any photos, though, so I think I'll wait to add that on a Father Dyer page. I might do some skiing on Father Dyer soon, and hopefully get some good photos for a Dyer page. When I climbed it before, I didn't have a digital camera.
I think that your personal experience would be enough for a route page for Helen (it wouldn't be the first route page w/o any pics), but I agree that it would be better to hold off until you could add it as a key route to a Father Dyer page. Definitely a good idea!
What I really meant, though, was just a line in the Overview (later, when you add a Father Dyer page, you could insert a link to the route here, too). It's something I try to do with my pages (not often enough, I admit!) -- mention other proven routes that I'm aware of, but that I can't personally give coverage to. The reason being that readers of the page might be inspired to do some research and try one of those other routes out for themselves. What do you think?
I do ski and have skied alot of the area. I mostly enjoy couloirs and have submitted several routes on surrounding mountains including Torreys and Buffalo.
The page is looking good! In the routes you say "refer to the topo map below". Wouldn't it be a better idea to include the map as a large picture on the page?

Untitled CommentOh - I see what you mean. Yeah, I will add that. Maybe someone can put up Father Dyer on their own. I prefer adding routes, anyway.

Untitled CommentGreat work ED. I'd played with the idea of submitting this one for sometime. Looks like you beat me to it. I posted some pics.
Also, you should let me know when your in town again. Maybe we can get together.
