In the
Fiemme Valley, near
Oclini and
Lavazé Passes, lies the couple of mountains
Corno Nero/Schwarzhorn 2439m and
Corno Bianco/Weisshorn 2317m.
The Oclini Pass is the ideal and beautiful place for Alpine and Nordic skiing lovers but not only in winter...
The Corno Nero/Schwarzhorn (porfiric roks) is the highest summit but the two mountains are both spectacular. The Schwarzhorn summit offer a great view: Latemar group, Lagorai range, Catinaccio, Pala di Santa, Adige Valley and Ega Valley.
Varena e Daiano
Varena is nicely situated at the foot of Corno Nero. It is one of the most ancient inhabited centres in Trentino. The plateau of Lavazè Pass, 10 km from Varena, has a beautiful landscape and therefore has an important tourist role. It is a real paradise to those who practise Nordic skiing with its 50 km of tracks but also thanks to its ski-lifts and slopes for down-hill skiing. In summer Varena is a good starting point for walks and mountain-bike excursions.
Daiano: A typical village of Valle di Fiemme situated on the road to Lavazè Pass, upriver Cavalese. Daiano is the sunniest town of the valley. Just like other nearby towns, Daiano is not far from areas equipped for alpine and Nordic skiing nor from areas famous for summer excursions. The small town has a population of 625 inhabitants.
Panoramic view of the Schwarzhorn 2439m Route
Start the trip from the
Schwarzhorn Hotel ( Oclini Pass 1989m, North side of Corno Nero) and take the
"S" path. It ascends the slope between the pines till the ski-lift. Then across debris and rocks till the summit. Near the summit there are only rocks and you must climb a bit, pay attention.
On the summit take the
path 502 (east) that descends and crosses the
Cime Ronchese (South side of Corno Nero); descend till
Cugola Pass 1923m, from where, across the wood, you can easily reach the Oclini Pass.
cime Ronchese e discende fino a
Passo Cugola 1923m.
