familiar

"The starting time of 7am seemed early, but then we had never experienced an adventure with Courtney." Three cheers for the easygoing DB!

There is another ~6580' peak just S of the way down the ramp (it's the mountain above "The Vortex"; peak about 37.19637, -112.94809 WGS84). It doesn't look like too much on the map, but it sure looks cool when you are there. We were going to go there after Bridge, but decided to return to Vegas in daytime instead.

Last September,

when I was doing my "tourist hikes" in Zion, I remember looking
up at the towers, and my question was: What are the best shoes to
wear for the "slickrock." What do you mean by "sticky rubber?"
You're referring to "rock-climbing shoes," right? I used crampons
before on snow and ice, but never on rock. Sounds interesting!!!

Re: Last September,

I have found an excellent hiking/running/climbing/canyoneering/hanging out/walking the mall (I never do this!) shoe to be the La Sportiva Exum Ridge. The rubber used on the sole is very soft and fast wearing, but they act like suction cups on the rock :-)
