Went up with a group of the Rocky Mountaineers. started at mission falls TH. Got up to Lucifer and Picture lakes, then up the Far East fully right below the Garden Wall and Mountaineer. After we bagged it, we headed south with some route finding to connect to East Saint Mary's. Big day.

South ridge from Picture Lake
Camped at Picture Lake and went up the "secret couloir" southwest of the peak. What an awesome route! (Except for the bushwack between Lucifer and Picture Lakes!)
Hiked in from Mission through Lucifer Lake. Swarmed by mosquitoes, expected grizzlies everywhere (saw none), swarmed by millions of lady bugs at the summit (very interesting), expected to see grizzlies eating lady bugs, went home. Long, long, long hike. Ten hours?
Route Climbed: West Face Date Climbed: August 2002, August 2004
Good weather both times. Fairly long day of hiking from the Mission Dam trailhead. Started up from the trailhead around 6:30 a.m. and reached the top by 1 p.m. or so. Enjoyed a few hours on the summit before heading down. Got back to the car by 7 p.m.
