Approach
From the Croy Canyon Road in Hailey, drive 6.3 miles southeast to Red Elephant Gulch, or Elk Creek (the canyon has two names on the USGS Topo). Drive 2.1 miles to where the road ends at Red Elephant Gulch Mine.
Route Description
From the Elephant Gulch Mine, look for the remains of an old mining road that heads up the canyon to your west. Hike up this road until it dies out after around 1 mile.
A tree covered ridge rises from the southwest at this point. Gain the ridge and head for Pt. 7,845. Once in the general area of 7,845, continue heading westard to gain Kelly Mountain's east ridge.
Once you have gained the ridge it is an easy walk to the summit.
