Other than cold,

this looks like a really long ways from
civilization. Just curious; what's the closest
"bonafide" community or township to Mount
Drabble? Are there still several thriving
"logging communities" in that area, or has that industry "fallen" to bad economic times???

Nice photo, nevertheless! I'm not used to
seeing ice form on lakes in October. That's
what I get for living in AZ for 15 years.
(We usually have to wait 'till December.)

You know, Ho Ho Ho and all that jazz. -Larry

Re: Other than cold,

No - not too far. About 3-4 hours from the start which is 30 mins drive from Courtenay.

This was likely my last "summer" season trip, so I chose an objective that fitted the bill for a solo trip and to which I could drive in the morning, hike in and set up camp all in the limited amount of daylight available at this time of year.

Ice cover had already set in for the winter. This tarn was already frozen over when I got there. By morning it took a good few bashes with a big rock to get water for brekkie.

Good times.............
