Overview

First ascent by Ward Ruble, July 13, 1921. Obvious gully on the NE corner of the rock massif.

Original summit register is in the Hotchkiss-Crawford Historical Society Museum in Hotchkiss, Colorado.

Getting There

Same as other route, but branch off and head west much sooner.

Route Description

Loose, broken basalt. Helmets necessary. 5.2R with fixed pins and a few bolts. There is a rappel station for this gully separate of the rappel station for the North Face.

Essential Gear

Helmets. 2-50m ropes for rappel. Pitons/small gear.

I've been told there are drilled bolts for a rap anchor on this route. If not, you can rappel the NE face using 2 50m ropes.

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
