Near the summit

of Mission Peak, these Lupines greeted us as we left the mosquito infested area we came through to a delightful breeze and wonderful views. 7-6-06

End of the old road?

This looks about like the place we used to drive to back in the '60s and '70s. Looks like a road bed in the foreground. Did it go beyond that point. Nice memory-jogging pic!

Re: End of the old road?

No, they bermed it back at this point so now it is a mini hike of a mile or a mile and a half.

Re: End of the old road?

Sorry, my question wasn't clear. I suspect you hiked up the old road bed, or at least you probably still could do that. I was just wondering if this was the end of that old road bed. :-)

Re: End of the old road?

There were places where the road bed turned into a trail but yes, there were other places that the road bed was still evident as in this pic. This pic was fairly close to the summit and the road ended where I took this picture at.
