New growth after the 1988-1990 eruption

The lake looks pretty dead. The big lava flow from Lonquimay had cut off lots of small areas, creating lakes such as these. There was little new growth on the lava itself, but at the edges, on grounds that had just escaped the flow, new shrubs and trees were bouncing back. December 2005.
