"I talked to the people at BLM and the County Recorder's Office. They informed me the holder of a claim is required to clearly post trespass warnings if they will not allow recreational prospecting."
The miner may not mind if you hike across his/her land; however, the law holds that he/she MUST post no trespassing signs to protect the claim. Otherwise other people can legally perform "recreational mining".

Re: Good report, but about the signs
Over at Lincoln/Democrat/Bross it may be an issue of just wanting to keep people from mining. Rusty Nichols is definately not just posting to protect a couple rocks.
...good posting--the bit about the No Trespass sign prohibiting entry to PUBLIC land is interesting.... (Also, a note--I think you mean "cairn," rather than "carin.")
Thanks for posting this. I agree that this route will be a dangerous mess in dry conditions for years to come until the trail builders clean it up and get a route establshed. Well written and good route photos (check for typos). Thanks for "pioneering" this route for your fellow SP members! I made note of it on the Wilson Peak page.
