Overview
The North Ridge of Mt Price is a fun, 3rd/4th class scrambling route with good rock and excellent scenery. Easily accessible from the Twin Lakes trailhead.
Getting There
From Twin Lakes trailhead near Wrights Lake, take Twin Lakes trail to Island Lake. There are many excellent camping spots all along the trail. Continue east past Island Lake and scamble up a talus slope to an obvious low point in the ridge.
Route Description
Follow the ridge south. Very soon you will encounter two closely spaced gendarmes. The first is easily climbed to the top, the second presents a blank wall that would require serious 5th class climbing. Bypass it on the right (west) side and continue up the ridge. Staying on the ridge crest keeps it a fun and challenging 3rd class with several short 4th class sections. All difficulties can be bypassed by downclimbing to one side or the other. Although there are occasional loose blocks, the rock is mostly solid. The ridge will take you all the way to the summit of Mt. Price.
Essential Gear
Approach shoes will make some sections easier to climb, but the whole ridge can be done in boots.
