Nice and easy
We had a great day on the mountain. This easy ridge walk was a great warm up to start the season.

Classic Winter Hike
Due to a high trailhead with easy access (Hoosier Pass), this is one of Colorado's easiest 13ers to climb in winter.

East Ridge
We climbed the standard route from the Hoosier Pass. There was still some snow along the way after a big spring for snowfall.

Great Early Winter Climb!
Fantastic early winter climb, however, very little snow up high so far this year. Scrambled over the ridge with climbing partners, Alan and Robert, as we get ready for Pico de Orizaba in January. Very good training peak that gets you over 13K and keeps you there for much of the climb.

Snowshoes were needed but avalanche danger on the East Ridge seemed very minimal and avoidable. Climbed with my SP friend Asphazell. We shed our snowshoes at about 13,300ft. on the ridge crest. The views of the surrounding peaks were great. Definitely a fun and somewhat challenging winter ascent. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a winter escape.

East ridge
Had a rare bluebird day in mid-Nov. This is a great climb to do in winter assuming the winds are manageble, as the views are superb in all directions for virtually the whole hike. A nice sidewalk in the sky along the east ridge. See my TR.

From Hoosier
That was one LONG ridge, doing it in Nov, may not have been a great idea. lots of scary cornices and crap snow. I plunged through ALOT. Exhausting but great position.
Climbed this route with Gurlyclimber and our friend Jody. Beautiful day: warm, sunny and not too windy. We spent probably 45 minutes lounging on the summit admiring our neighboring peaks. This is a great summit, suspended between the Tenmile and Mosquito ranges with views that include Pikes and LaPlata.

A non-typical hike that leaves one exposed for most of the way. Interesting and it took longer than I thought it would.

In the evening and after work, I headed up North Star Mountain. It was a nice evening and I reached the summit of East North Star a few minutes before sunset. I stayed to watch the rest of the sunset while contemplating continuing on to the west summit, but since I didn't bring the headlamp this time, I decided to head back down. It was a really nice evening hike.
