It was down when I was there last year but I didn't put it back. The keeper of the registers at the Sierra Club has also requested that it is replaced on the summit where it belongs.
As of 6/24/01, the summit register is no longer on the true summit! Someone took it and put it on the ground just below the summit block. Also, there is a 15 foot piece of webbing tied to the summit bolts that some people use to haul their weak asses up (I don't know how long that will stay....I should have taken it down myself). Come on you guys, it's only 5.8+!

As of 7/25/02, the summit register was moved down from the summit monolith on Thunderbolt peak. I don't know who did it, but, it was sitting at the southwest foot of the summit block. (BTW, that's means the register is actually below 14,000 feet) .
I was up there on Sept. 17, 2002 and the register is still down. The cast eyelet used to bolt it to the summit is broken, and therefore could not be bolted down on top. Also, the webbing is still up.
Register is now cabled to the summit. Don't know by whom. Should be repositioned as it could now be used by climbers instead of the webbing ladder as a point of aid.
Romain's basic page has moved to http://www.anderson.ucla.edu/faculty_pages/romain.wacziarg/climbing/TBoltSept01.html, and the link to the waypoints there is broken.
