After climbing the Cresta Sella on Lyskamm, Scott and I descended the E Ridge (witnessed a heli rescue) then hiked up to the Margherita Hut. 11hrs from the Sella Hut. Slept in the overflow room in the hut. My boots felt bad the last hour; like my feet had swollen.
Packed shoulder to shoulder with guides at our dinner table.

Climbed it solo in 1 day up & down from Staffal in the valley (1825m) #nonstopsolo
After a nice visit on Zumsteinspitze we spent few minutes in the hut at Signalkuppe. Perfect weather.
Climbed Signalkuppe as the last peak of our Monte Rosa Tour. We succeeded in Climbing all the peaks we wanted since we had perfect weather all week.
During the week I was already a bit worried about spending the night in the Capanna Regina Margherita due to the height, but on the other hand I was super excited as well to sleep on top of one of the highest mountains in the Alps.
Looking back at it: I was feeling sick all night and had to pass on dinner, but enjoying the evening and nightly views from 4557m is pricesless! The next morning we descended back to Zermatt and I felt fine again.
A nice summit on a day we did part of the Spaghetti tour.
Perfect weather the whole week. We ascended the Breithorn, Castor, Pollux, Parrotspitze and Signalkuppe. Slept at the Monta Rosa Hut.
Climbed several peaks in the region: Vincent piramide, Ludwigshöhe and Signalkuppe.
Climbed as the second summit during the solo traverse of the 6 Monte Rosa peaks (Zumsteinspitze, Signalkuppe, Parrotspitze, Ludwigshöhe, Schwarzhorn, and Vincent Pyramid) in one day from the Mantova hut.
Fantastic conditions, left Gnifetti Hut at 5:15 AM, at capanna Margherita 3:50 hrs later for a warm tea and a slice of cake.
We climbed this mountain from Rifugio Cita Di Mantova with my friend Netto and climbed first the Zumstein, and then Signalkuppe.
Very nice climb in overall perfect condition. We had a drink at the Margharita hutte, it was just amazing !
From the Monte Rosa Hut, ascended the heavily crevassed Grenzgletcher and bagged Ludwigshöhe, Parrotspitze, Zumsteinspitze and Signalkuppe and then stayed overnight at the Margherita Hut. Returned to Zermatt the next day via the Grenzgletcher.
Great views from the highest hut in Europe. As mentioned by others, it was warmer inside than you'd expect!
the last peak of our wonderdull holidays in monte rosa. Spectacular place with amazing dawn
I first visited Cabana Margherita in 1982, but it was a real pleasure to return with rgg and Alasdair all of 31 years later (OMG - I really must be old now!). Weather & conditions better than we had back then - an even more amazing place to spend the night than I remembered. Not very comfortable though - biggest problem was being much too hot - surprising considering we were at over 4500m. They need to work on ventilating the hut a bit better - maybe inhibited opening windows by the 2500m drop just outside!
After our original plans to climb the Dufourspitze and Nordend from the north failed because of an overdose of soft snow, we drove around from Switzerland to Italy to explore the Monte Rosa area from the south. The snow conditions were much better here, and we went over almost every little peak along the route from Rif. Gnifetto to Capanna Margherita - we only passed on Pyramide Vincent because we had already climbed it yesterday, and on Lyskamm East because we didn't like the look of the cornice high on its eastern ridge when we viewed it from Pyramide Vincent yesterday.
With sleep in the hut.
warm and sunny weather on the top, perfect day. it was my second climb to C.Margherita and really enjoyed it.
