Thielsen Summit Fulguirites

Thielsen Summit Fulguirites

A fulgurite on the summit of Mount Thielsen (the black glassy spot just to the left of the camera's shadow). This is not one of the better examples of fulgurites on the summit, just to the left a large branching tube is present that even warped the summit benchmark, but I didn't think to photograph it. The Lathrop Glacier is present in the background.

Point out the fulgurite in the photo

I see light green lichens and some orange tatter spot fungi and a black spot just left of the shadow. Could the spot be a fulgurite?

Re: Point out the fulgurite in the photo

Yep, the black glassy spot just to the left of the camera's shadow. I updated the caption.

I wish I had a better shot of the fulgurites up there, in this shot I was actually trying to photograph the Lathrop glacier but was uncomfortable getting closer to the face at first (I got closer later on and got this shot). Getting the fulgurite in the shot was just coincidence.
