Two days of climbing in this with my friends. Still learning this sport but so far it's been fun.
Ouray is great ice climbing with no approach. Basically crawl out of your hotel in Ouray and you're on the ice in 20 min. All levels of ice and many routes. Could spend a few days there easy. Also some great back country multi pitch routes available within 30 min drive from Ouray. Get up early though, the popular backcountry routes fill up fast.
A great week of ice and snow with 2 fun gals!
Great place, tons of climbs for all levels and such easy access!
great trip with San Juan Mountain guides
Did 18 climbs in two days, Jan 25 & 26 2013. Fun place!
Climbed from the 23rd to the 26th, top roped WI3-5 in New Funtier, Schoolroom, Pick-o-the-vic, and Lower Bridge areas and led some WI2-3 in New Funtier, Schoolroom, and South Park.
First time on water ice and had a blast.
First time to the Ouray Ice Park and it was AWESOME! Did a roap trip with Shiela, Jared and Ryan.
I killed it
First time at the ice park and the ice festival. Great clinics and seminars, looking forward to going back. I enjoyed the opportunity to learn from some of the best climbers in the world like Steve House.
Where to go to get your 150 laps in on WI4/5 in a low consequences environment before taking on bigger, multi-pitch ice leads
easy approach, great ice, nice place to learn.
climb 25 routes in 4 days. Climb my first mixed route Tic Tac at the Lower Bridge area which is rated M6+, super rad!
Spent a week in the park. School Room, Alcove, South Park, Upper Bridge, 5 Fingers. Led a few WI3's and a short WI4. TR'd a few pillars, WI5's and never fell or had a take the whole time. Ouray is an awesome little town. Totally great memories.
Great place to ice climb!
I visited the park many times, live 40 min away and am pretty much a weekly visitor during the season. climbed in all areas of the ice park.
Unfortunately, getting really busy during the weekends and holidays.
This is one of the coolest places I've ever been to. Pure joy!
Went with a huge group of people from CU. My first time on ice, I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to come back next year!
