When I was shopping for packs I tried a lot of them on. It came down between Gregory and Osprey and Osprey won hands down. I regularaly train with 50+lbs in this pack and have had no problems with hot spots on my hips and it handles the load quite well. The sleeping bag compartment is handy as is the top accessory bag that can be made into a hip bag. This pack is rugged and will be put to good use for many seasons.
Great pack! One can do so much with it. It is light enough to use for a day hike, and the compression straps shrink it down to nothing, and yet fully expanded it can hold load of gear and support lots of weight. Good for just backpacking, and strong enough to handle cams, axes and abuse.
Excelletnt suspension and capcity. the hip belt to fanny pack is kinda annoying to set up, but carries well. awesome for heavy overnights to ultalight weeks. i used this bag for backpacking to iceclimbing and it handles it all so well! Love it
Best pack ever... (if your looking for a 70L for mountaineering
Osprey passion for great packs, and excellent quality shows. Suspension system is handles loads comfortably. This pack has seen me drag it through punishing mountaineering trips. I would almost say its indestructible.
I've had this for over a year now, and it has never let me down. It's super comfortable, and carries its load very well. The pack is really strong, I have never gotten a rip on the pack. The Aether 70 is definitely my favorite pack for backpacking to mountaineering, I will use this pack for many more years.
