... and some great pics. I'm glad you gave the Red Lady situation excellent coverage. It's a disturbing example of nepotism and corporate welfare at the expense of public. I hope the HCCA prevails in their fight.
Well, they've kept the mining company at bay since 1977, so I've got my fingers crossed. My wife used to bum in Crested Butte, so the issue really hits home for us.
Lots of info into another contentious situation that could of course only happen in Colorado FIRST. Colorado is setting the (bad) example that I'm afraid other states will follow. Thanks for the heads up. Crested Butte is my favorite ski mountain in Colorado. It's nice to see it from a fresh perspective.
Nice job. Interesting and horrifying. Certainly the worst thing the mining company could do in terms of public relations would be to close off Red Lady to BC skiing.

Red Lady, Red Lady we’ll do what we can
to save you from miners who don’t give a damn.
Your beauty is priceless. We must take a stand
to protect and preserve all your water and land.
(So let’s rally our forces and strike up the band.)
Whatever it takes I will do just for you.
I’ll have a bake sale and I’ll wear a tuttu.
I’ll march in the streets and write letters to boot.
Whatever it takes to save dear Crested Butte.
(Cause the Good Old Boy Bankers are here for the loot.)
Molybdenum mining does NOT belong here,
for that would contaminate my homemade beer.
The road traffic and he-li-cop-ters in air
would pollute Crested Butte and scare way all the deer.
(and the tourists and visitors who love it here.)
Red Lady, Red Lady, it’s only the start
The mine has a knife that strikes right through our heart
The people must rise up and stand in the Light.
Cause we want healthy children and that is our right.

Re: Outstanding EffortThe Butte is my favorite ski town also. Nothing like the North Face... This mining sale is a real shame.
Thanks for the vote and comments.
