Climbed with Nick. Started early to avoid crowds. Good weather. Nice to be out
https://youtu.be/EiLOuC17occ for a full trip report check out our video on you tube at peaks in the bag. Pfieff is life thats for sure. This is one of my favorite peaks of all time!!!
Pheiff is life coined that saying with my buddies on this trip all of those years ago.
Turned around at the knife edge. I didn't feel safe over some of those chasms
Fun climb. See my comment on the North Ridge log.
This is harder at age 75 than it used to be. But Lee Johnson and I made it. Nine and 1/2 hours!
Great climb, ~7 hours round trip
via Red Pine Lakes. Fun route to introduce a friend to mountaineering
10/08/19 - beautiful autumn scramble on an almost perfect day.
There was a massive snowfall over the winter and the route up was totally covered from the lake up until you hit the ridge. Good fun running down the snowfield on the way back
Easy hike up and down the Pfeif
Climbed via Red Pine trailhead with Kaden Robinson. Beautiful climb and fun scrambling and ridge traverses. Great day!
Such a pretty mountain. 5 hrs 30 min total time car to car. Little bit of rain last 30 min. Lots of people out this weekend. Views over to Timp were awesome. All the aspens are pretty lit up. All in all - it was not a tough as I expected.
Somehow all of my previous dates for climbs were "erased." #29 6-27-15 W/ Kevin Shumway and Yz. Also hit Little Pfeifferhorn. Have done this mountain in all 4 seasons and as part of the Beatout Hike as well. #30 8-26-16 W/ Brent (part way) and Yz. 3+41 up on a windy morning. #31 5-20-17 With WMC on the Beatout hike. 6+ hours to summit. #32. 8-17-18 w/ Lana & Brent. 4+10 up. Zero wind! #33 06-15-19 W/ Yz, Jeff & Nancy & Chris J. Still tons of snow. 5+38 up, glissades into Maybird Basin. #34 05-05-20 W/ Lana, Jim K., Akiko K., Mac B., and Phil. 5+03 up. Bluebird day. #35 07-20-2020 W/ Lana. 4+06 up. Another Bluebird day but too hot in the valley.
Part of the Beatout
This peak is awesome! Aromatic pine forests, a fun, knife-edge scramble, and a solid climb in the final push to the summit.
My only complaint was how popular the trail was--there were a lot of people out today!
A buddy and I started after work and skied up to Red Pine Lake. We camped there in the snow. We reached the top the next day. We were surprised how many people were on the trail. The trip out took way longer than expected.
Went with my father and uncle via the standard route, my first real experience with scrambling. Steep and long, but a scenic and enjoyable route from the beautiful Red Pine Lakes. Great summit views, signed the register, surprised to find some friendly chipmunks on the summit. Would recommend as a spectacular peak!
Hiked with Duc and Darby. Erin and Zack hiked with us to Red Pine Lake. Met Brooke and Ema at the top who got lost after going to Maybird so followed us down. Saw a couple tons of rock fall off the north side of the ridge just east of the peak. Luckily, no one was below. We watched the sunset as we waited for the Oktoberfest traffic to die down.
