Anyone ever had their piercings freeze?

by ApolloFrost » Sun Mar 06, 2011 8:41 am

So I've got both ears pierced with 6 gauge steel spirals and once the temps get down low they get uncomfortable as all hell. Anyone have experience climbing with wooden or synthetic gauges? Obviously they would be less of a problem than climbing with steel or anything else heat conductive but I don't want any surprises.

I suppose I could just take them out or wear ear muffs but where's the fun in that?

I recommend going with down filled gauges - way warmer.

If they're going to be under your wool cap, I'd go with synthetic since they might get damp if you sweat.

Don't take offense to this....Remove them! Your ears won't be pierced in 15 years anyways so start early. I speak from experience :)

I have my ears pierced with 6 silver rings. I never had problems with them. Not even in chilliest conditions. I just keep them under my wool hat, warm and toasty :)

 Good way to start off the day! Good laugh.

Never frozen, but I've had piercings ripped out in mosh-pits though. Amazing how quickly people get out of your way when your covered in
a generous amount of blood.

Word on the street: normal piercings will be passe in a few years, in favor of Mursi lip plugs.
