I've only heard bad things about Tibet access, even after the Olympics. But I see Himex are planning to go Aug 28 and Summitclimb Sept 2 - so you should know in a week or so!

Yeah I think field touring and altitude junkies are also on standby to go.

Adventure Consultants are not going. They're headed into the Barun Valley for Baruntse next week.

Check in with John Race and wife, Olivia Cussen at Northwest Mountain School. They are headed to Cho Oyo soon, perhaps with RMI?

From what I know;
Paralympics ends on 17 Sep. The authorities want another month to "look over the visa rules", so October 17 is the new official date for easier red tape. That's the theory and the official word. Other rumors says nothing will really happen with the visa rules until January 1, 2009.
I wouldn't put too much effort and time into any larger projects for Tibet until next year.
