Claudio Corti has died aged 81

Claudio Corti who attempted to climb the N Face of the Eiger in 1957 with Stefano Longhi and was rescued, has died. They met up with Gunther Nothdurft and Franz Mayer who also did not make it down. Longhi died up there also.

Thank you for your excellent and enlightening account of this epic. I was intrigued by this
climb after reading The Climb up to Hell by Jack Olsen.

The last (and one of the very few) interviews ever given by Corti. He speaks in his usual, incomprehensible Lecco dialect (very difficult to understand even for an Italian like me!)
