The unfortunate climber was identified as US National - Nina Lynne Creedman who had been living and working in Wellington for two years.

Apparently she died by rockfall on Mt. Sealy, not Mt. Cook. The NZ Herald article is confusing the park with the mountain it seems. The Sealy ranges are lots of loose scree and rubble, from what I recall.

My condolences to friends and family.

You're right. RickB, the accident was on the Sealy Range, not on Mt Cook.
