East Pioneers - Tweedy and Torrey Mtns

by peakhugger » Fri Jul 16, 2010 4:53 pm

Anyone have any beta on the best routes from Torrey Lake (west side) for these peaks?

Torrey looks straightforward, but any thoughts on which ridge would be more interesting or less loose, the north or west? (perhaps the north ridge isn't easily accessible from Torrey Lake... contour lines are a little tight)

Also curious what class the traverse is on Tweedy from the SW ridge across to the summit, the same section as the last 200 vert ft of the northwest ridge route. 3rd? 4th?

Has anyone here attempted to traverse the N-S ridge line between the two? Possible crux looks to be north of point 10666. 4th or low 5th class? Any retreat options (without rappelling) to the west if weather moves in during the traverse? Perhaps to the west from point 10261?

Thanks.
