Forum for Selling Gear?

A member asked yesterday about a separate forum for members looking to sell their gear.

Is this something members would like to see, or does the current system work fine as it is?

If we created such a forum, should it be a separate forum or a subforum under Gear? Should it have subforums for gear categories? What should those categories be? When would it cross from helpful organization to clutter?

A major issue would be drawing the line between true commercial posts and members selling their gear. Would the forum become a target of spammers?

Any members who have used or might use SP to sell or purchase gear to or from other members are encouraged to share thoughts about this.

I think creating it as a subforum under gear would be a great idea. I don't think commercial posts would become any more of a problem. CascadeClimbers.com has a forum called the "Yard Sale" and it doesn't seem to get spammed a lot.

A specific forum for selling gear would be great. I sold some gear on ebay rather than here 'cause it was only 2 items and I didn't want to clog up the main forums. I probably would have gotten more for it here though

I think this works ok. At least it's where I look for gear for sale, etc when I'm on SP.

Plus, this gear forum often has lots of FS posts at the top of the list, so questions about gear get pushed to the bottom of the stack pretty quickly. A separate forum would be nice.

The new forum is up as a subforum. Go to Gear and then look at the top of the screen.

Also split up in euro and usa forum!!!
Impossible to find good deals in the usa due to shipping and taxes!

That could be a good idea, but then it could open the door to several regional-based classified forums. It might make clutter and prove annoying to members. But I'll keep an eye on feedback and see how things go.
