I'm looking at heading out to the winds for Gannett in October, I've hiked in the winds a few times before but didn't get back to Gannett.

Ya, that area can be a beast in the winter, not been out there in winter, I've wanted to but was warned that it can be very cold and lots of heavy snow. Probably need skis and snowshoes in the winter. I suspect October won't be warm by any means. I went the first time during June one year but the flies and mosquitos were horrendous, though they are gone by August which is when I went back then next year.
