GPS Phone Apps that can be downloaded to Google Earth

by hgrapid » Wed May 01, 2019 4:26 am

Hey folks, so my MapMyHike App has been failing miserably lately. Even after I uninstalled and reinstalled it. It creates zig-zags and straight lines. I turned on my All Trails App last weekend in Prescott and within 15 minutes it showed I had gone 94 miles.

My Apps are just trash right now, and they used to work. I prefer an App that I can later convert to a KML or KMZ file.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get a usable GPS App? Happy to pay for it as long as it works.

Thanks

I use Gaia on my Apple iPhone and download points to kml and kmz.

When I had an Android phone, I used US Topo by Atlogis to do the same.

I recently downloaded Basemap and have forced myself to use it a little bit. The jury is still out.

I realized, at least with MapMyHike, that I was using a battery-saving setting. Once I switched that, it seems to work better. I'll check with All Trails this weekend.
