I'ld like to know where all the precipitation is hiding. We didn't even see snow until late December and it was only like 1/2 an inch. It quickly melted away. We finally have some snow and fairly seasonal temperatures this past week (still only maybe 4 inches of snow out there and the temp yesterday was -26C/-15F). But tomorrow it's going up to +7 C/45F!! Normally we would have seen at least 6 big storms (6+inches in a storm) but we haven't had anything fun like that! When it says winter on the calendar then it should be winter outside. Sure maybe I'm not in love with walking the kids to school when it's close to -40C/-40F but at least it feels normal! Here is a pic of the winter festival from last year, notice the snow.

Thank God I do not have to shovel tons of that snow shit anymore. This inch or so will be gone by day break.


At work, I just get into the Loader and push it away.

The three or so inches of hard rain we got over the past four days here, thankfully, soaked right into the ground and made the sages throughout our new vast backyard smell so delightful,








PS: The fishing was great yesterday. Quiet with absolutely no humans to be seen or heard. Just the repeated tightening of my line and the splashing of the local Brownies.

I just want to let everyone know the rain has stopped here for now and I'm thinking of going to the grocery store for some milk.

While it's partly cloudy right now, the rain is coming back!

After predictions of up to an inch Saturday and maybe nothing Monday in Pine Valley, CA, we got 0.15 inches Saturday and stand at 0.85 inches today, Monday evening. All in all, not bad. Today, I took the opportunity to dig 13 holes with plans for planting 7 jeffery pine (5-gallon), 5 incense cedar (5 and 15 gallon), and 1 bristlecone pine (15 gallon). Nothing like digging in the rain!

Wow! All those will grow down there? If so, good on you for planting them, esp. in the rain!
