Lost Ice Axe on Baldy

by mtndonkey » Tue Mar 01, 2011 4:06 am

I lost an ice axe on Baldy on Sunday and hoping someone may have picked it up. It fell off my pack somewhere, I believe it was below the hut but don't really know for sure. Drop me a line if you found one, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Taco...worst part I took my wife's axe because it is lighter and smaller than mine and I wasn't expecting to use it. Last time I borrowed her axe I got my car buried in the snow for nearly a month after a trip and had to jettison all non-essential gear for my hike towards town....leaving her axe behind. Needless to say I am not allowed to use her axe anymore (or replacement axe).

Be careful this weekend, you wouldn't want her to 'lose' your ice tools as retaliation.

Hey MD,

I found an axe in Baldy Bowl today. Describe it and it's yours...er, your wife's.

We have a winner. My wife will be relieved---I threatened to give it to her if I couldn't find the owner and her interest in snow climbing has waned over the years.

Pretty excited to be getting the axe back and getting myself out of the doghouse. Equally exciting is my ice tools survived a weekend of climbing without my wife attempting any retaliation. :D
