Marmolada -Dolomiti

by Orlando » Mon Oct 08, 2007 8:53 pm

Hello,
We're planning to do the Marmolada this winter on the normal route. It appaers there is a little rock climbing to do (about 100 m - 300 feet) to come to the north snow ridge. Does anyone has any expercience with this route. There should be a metal cable ?? Is that correct ??

Thanks,
Orlando

Hello:
I climbed Marmolada (Punta Penia) in september 2007. There is a steel rope in the rock section (I-II) that you can use with via ferrata material. It's an easy climb, but in winter can be more dangerous, if ice or snow covers the rock. You can see the steel rope in this photo http://www.summitpost.org/image/342139/150474/steel-ropes-in-the-normal-route.html
Good luck!
