In Hillary’s Footsteps

Next spring ‘The Mountain Company’ will be doing a once in a lifetime trek to Mount Everest Base Camp called ‘In Hillary’s Footsteps’. The trek will be led by Edmund Hillary’s son, Peter.

Changes over the years include large lakes where there were none, glacial ice replaced by ponds, boulders and sand, the snowline moving up the mountains, and glaciers that have shrunk.

British Climber Tony Streather has died

Tony Streather died on the 31st October 2018 aged 92. In 1976 he led the Joint British Army, Royal Nepalese Army Everest expedition which put two British climbers on the summit.
