You are definitely free to jump in. I have read your pages and I have talked to others about you. I have seen that you have been on Hood many times and I would be crazy not to have you along. Speed to me is never an issue. I will probably PM you tomorrow.

Don't know your ages... but I need 8 hours to reach the top.
If I have to use snowshoes, I need still more time.

I've made about a dozen climbs... most were fun attempts
just to see how high I could climb during the day.
I've been to the top twice, into crater (but not summit) 3 times.
I have no winter climbing experience.

Like I say... weather and snow conditons are king here. If I don't like it,
I'm turning around. Any climb is a good climb, summit or no summit.

Would you like to try a get-in-shape pre-climb beforehand?

A 11pm departure seem agreeable to me. That'll put me on top at dawn (7am).

Totally agree with this philosophy!! I have had great success because I knew when to turn around. I already have the summit of Hood, but would love to see the sunrise of a new decade. That being said, I am not going to take an unnessessary risk (bad ice, weather, high avy danger) to see it.

Looking at 11 pm-12 am departure which will get us there at 8 am right when the sun rises. Ultimate turn around time is 11 am or if conditions are dangerous. Though I am quicker I don't mind going slower at the higher altitudes to adjust. I have invited seven others as well. When the time gets closer I will ask for updates on conditions.

Well... ONE week to go... who's still considering this climb?

I will PM you on the climb. I am still interested in going but the long range weather forecast ain't looking too hot. That being said, I am not changing plans until 2 days out.

I would like to take a moment of silence once on top and honor the three climbers who lost their life up there. If weather and conditions are decent I hope to see a number of SPer's up there.

Yeah, The weather window is not going to be there. I skinned up the Palmer yesterday, and holy shit it was windy!

I wish you guys would reconsider the time, supposed to be another dumpin storm Friday or Saturday.

I am because the forecast looks very nasty both Thursday and Friday. I am cancelling on this trip. I'd rather be wrong and somewhat hitting myself because the weather turned out nice, then go and find out too late that they are right!

Think you guys are doing the right thing by cancelling. We got dumped on yesterday in Portland, heavy wet snow. Don't know how much they got on the mountain but it's always worse. Another storm moving in right now. Doubt it would be stable in a couple days even if the weather turns nice.

Keep your name out of the papers and live a nice, long boring life with lots of summits nobody necessarily ever hears about except us on this site in your photos and summitlogs.
