The Flemish Wouter Hamelinck (28) placed second in the 850KM long Himal Race. Hamelinck started on Mount Kailash in Tibet, ran over 13 cols above 5000m (one over 5600m) and finished 20 days later in the Anapurna basecamp in Nepal. In those 20 days he gained 32 000 m of elevation. Due to the nature of the race he was also carrying about 10 kilograms of equipment on his back during the race.
