Leading Sherpa Nima missing after avalanche

Sherpa Chhewang Nima who has climbed Everest 19 times (one less than Appa Sherpa) is missing after an avalanche near the summit of Baruntse with another sherpa around the 7000 meter level.

SOS! Two Russian climbers missing at Teng Kangpoche NF

SOS! Two Russian climbers Alexey Gorbatenkov and Svetlana Gutsalo were going to climb Teng Kangpoche North Face (6500) in the end of September. This peak is not far from Thame village.
The duo planned to fly home from KTM Oct, 7. There are still no news till today. If somebody saw them near the route? on the route? in the village?... In Namche? Please let us know.

I thought it was odd that the article mentioned that he isn't carrying a cell phone, but made no mention of, say, a GPS or a SPOT device.

Lama Geshi Had a Stroke; A call to Climbers for Help

If you have ever climbed in the Himalaya, you probably are as shocked by this headline as I was to receive the news. Lama Geshe suffered a stroke around September 20, 2010. He was flown to Kathmandu, paralyzed and in poor condition. He has since undergone an initial surgery and seems to have improved some. He is now responsive and resting.

Dallas Kloke, R.I.P.

If you were ever a PNW climber, you probably either knew or at least knew about Dallas Kloke.

Dallas died in a fall on Mt. Larrabee.
