Sunday /Monday 9/2,3 successful trip to summit. Not one other party on the route up or down. How many times does that happen? No traffic up gully. One LARGE group at high camp, saw people standing around, but no movement out of camp. Trip report up.
Planning to go up the Coleman-Deming Route the week of Aug 13. We've never done a Washington peak before (our experience is basically the Wind Rivers) - at what elevation can we expect the glacier to have snow on top? Will route-finding through the crevasses be a huge pain? Are there any extra concerns going in August beside exposed glacier? Any other tips or thoughts? Thanks!
I have the opportunity to do some scrambling in July. As I will be able to access Washington, I thought I would ask if anyone could recommend some routes or peaks to bag.
Upper Pearly Gates pic is side ways...kind of like me... sorry.... Hood was perfect on April 25, route went right up Hogback and through Pearly Gates. Temps were below freezing, nothing falling on you, few people. Pics and report later if I can figure new format out.
It looks like the ridge of high pressure that builds around Presidents Day is here. That means clear, cold, stable weather. Go get those winter climbs!
