Forty Below (40) Purple Haze Overboots - Medium Size

One pair of Forty Below Purple Haze Overboots in size medium. I used these on my Denali climb and no longer have a need for them. They have some minor 'scrapes' on the inside of each boot from crampon contact but none of these have turned into full blown holes or anything that would compromise foot warmth. Please email me with any specifc questions. sgrischow@gmail.com

Rabbit Peak (Santa Rosas) - From the Coachella Valley?

I've been to Rabbit Peak from S22 (over Villager), but I'm thinking about starting down in the Coachella Valley in the Oasis area to do it my second time. Has anyone done it this route? If so, did you just leave your vehicle parked along the side of the road on Filmore Street near where Avenue 79 would be and head toward Rabbit as the Sierra Club's Desert Peak's Guide suggests? Any advice or tips ...

Osprey Mutant/Variant

I'm looking for a new technical pack and am not real familiar with Osprey. Does anyone have experience with the Mutant 38 pack? What is the difference between the Mutant and the Variant models? Thanks in advance.

Cell phones go dead

One of odd things I noticed when carrying a cell phone into the wilderness... the battery is usually dead in 36 hours - even tho I never used it.

I suspect the phone keeps pinging out trying to reach a network and draws the batteries down.

Does anyone have this problem?

Secondly... do rescuers have equipment... to call a lost hiker from a helicopter or anything?

Comments?

Patella issue/Kneecap misallignment

Ok, here my story.

Last april, while running, someone challenged me to a sprint. What the heck I thought.

Afterwards, a little pain in my left knee. Ah well happens often I thought.

Next day, same problem, hmmm, it'll pass, right?

I continued running for some weeks, until I thought it wise to stop running because the pain wasn't diminishing.

Fast forward to september. After 2 weeks of trekking and bouldering in the French Alps, ...

One of our hikers in the mtsanjacinto.info forum has an article written about him in the Desert Sun. This follows another article about Doreen who has hiked the infamous Skyline
