Nikon D200

by Diego Sahagún » Wed Feb 17, 2010 12:05 am

A friend of mine could buy that body for 400€ (550$). I still don't know if it'd be used or not. What would you do in both cases :?: Is it a fair price :?:

I think it must be used but I'm not sure. I've asked him and think he'll answer tomorrow

It is not an real uncommon price for the body here in the US. Best buy stores were selling it for USD$ 599.00 for some time.
I have had this camera for a while, about three + years and can vouch for it. Its build quality and weather sealing is the best I have ever seen. That being said, its sensor is old and grainy at high ISO's by modern standards and that should really be thought out by the purchaser.
I own it and love it, and have no plans to replace anytime soon.
hope that helps...

See what condition it is in, what its shutter count is, etc...

Otherwise, I'd say thats a pretty good price, for a very capable camera.

well the Nikon d200, d300 is made in thailand so i wouldn't worry too much about different operating systems, whatever that means. warranty may of course be an issue but usually, the price one pays for buying second hand.

It's a second hand camera and I think that a friend of him sells it. I've asked him if the lens' lid has been open anytime. I wouldn't buy a d-slr used camera because of a possible dirt sensor...

You do know you can clean sensors easily right? And if you don't feel like doing it on your own, you can also send it off to Nikon and they'll clean it for a fee. The number of actuations on the shutter is way more important. Also, I'm not quite sure if I understand you correctly- are you only willing to buy a DSLR that has not had a lens switch? I doubt this is even possible- even brand new bodies have test shorts fired...

I'm not going to buy any body, it's my friend who wanted to buy that used Nikon 200D. And no, I think that body is complete but we doubt about its cleanness sensor. I know that it can be cleaned by him or by a service but I think he doesn't want to do that just after buying. So he's decided to see new Nikon bodies in the stores. Any recommendations for 400-500€ :?:

Is this price for the body only (does he have a Nikon mount lens to use with it) or does this money have to buy a lens as well?

That price should be only for the body and be delivered to Spain and no, he has nothing to mount to it yet. We'll see anyway

Does he have the original receipt? If you have the full history of the camera, then it's fine. Nikon will service your camera as long as you have the original receipt (kinda) :)

OK but I don't think he'd want a used camera with a probably dirt sensor and would prefer to buy a new one. I don't know if he'd receive the original receipt from his wife job coleague anyway
