Saw a page on NWHikers stating that Camel's Hump is already peaking. This upcoming weekend will be prime for the high country back east. Hopefully next week the pictures will start flowing into the "Northeastern Fall Foilage Album"

Upper elevation trees are already bare up in the Whites. The roadside foliage is fine north of Concord NH, brilliant colors today especially at Franconia North and northwards. Even the lower areas below the northern slopes of North Twin are pretty bare though; from the trailhead on the trail was covered with fallen leaves. Not sure how much this is an indication for other northerly and northern areas.

My personal opinion is, this summers drought is leading to an earlier leaf fall this season. Already have some colour on the South Fork of Long Island and some leaves down.

Also, between said drought and a hurricane every weekend, there's a lot of hanging branches. Stay alert in the woods folks!

Baxter State Park.

Head up to the Whites NOW! (Seriously, take a weekday off; Columbus Day traffic will be brutal.) Still a little green in the warmest valleys (e.g., Conway), but lots of red all over the slopes. HIgher elevations are already pretty bare: Friday's storm knocked the birch leaves down. Let's hope we don't get a repeat of that anytime soon.

10/9 - Went up to NH for a quick dayhike of Zealand/3 Bonds. Not a lot of foliage left on trails, but coming back down 93 today the roadside foliage was at full blast from Zealand Rd down Rt 3 then 93 all the way into Tilton

We were up in the Central Adirondacks 10/8-11. Spectacular weather and a great trip, though most of the foliage was past peak. I'm told the storms the prior week knocked down a lot of foliage. Ridge tops were mostly bare, middle elevations (~2000 ft) had spotty color. Foliage was still close to peak at lower elevations along the Hudson River (North Creek area).

Catskills were at just about peak this weekend (past peak above 3000'). Looks like it's pretty much over for the northern mountains, folks

I'm stuck in town for a while, somebody PLEASE hit the Gunks soon! Berkshires should still have some good color too. Boston is still not yet at peak, I'll try to check out local rocks in my spare time.

Those photos really made the album. If you are looking fall color all low elevation areas in New England should be in peak if the winds have not blow off the leaves from the Nor'easter. Talcott Mountain, Mount Tom and Toby, Uncunoonuc and the Monadnock Region should be at least in peak.

I was in Baxter State Park on Wednesday and driving the roads of the park was like driving through a golden tunnel. Alot of leaves were down all ready though. Here's a few with some fall colors.

Wow...I'm kind of surprised Baxter has anything left this late in the season, being as far north as it is!

Ice is forming up high (somebody climbed Damnation Gully on Saturday morning before it melted out in the afternoon!) but I'm seeing reports of good color at lower elevations in the southern Whites. It ain't over yet! Boston is approaching peak now, I should be able to get some local rock-climbing shots with color in them.

Spent yesterday (Sunday 10/17) at Rumney and there was still plenty of color. Snow on Moosilauke and the Franconias was a nice touch for the drive in. Didn't have a camera unfortunately
