A climber injured in a fall this week in Clear Creek Canyon has been identified as the executive director of the American Alpine Club.
Phil Powers, 50, was severely injured when he fell more than 40 feet on Tuesday afternoon while climbing with a group in the canyon west of Golden, according to a media release from the Golden-based AAC.

Powers suffered a broken arm, fractured ribs and vertebras, a punctured diaphragm, a collapsed lung, and substantial internal bruising.
