Rae's Lake Loop Condition

by rajeshkh » Fri Aug 04, 2017 7:17 pm

Hi,

We are hiking Rae's lake loop in 3 weeks. Someone on a different form mentioned that two of the bridges are down and may not be repaired soon. Wanted to check if anyone recently did this trail and how the conditions are. Are there still lot of snow on the trail or are the trails visible?

Thanks
Rajesh

"8/1- The South Fork of the Kings River in Upper Paradise is now fordable with much caution. Swift water crossing knowledge is necessary and the crossing is not recommended for children. It is now stock passable up to Woods Creek. "

"6/19 - The South Fork Bridge at Upper Paradise Valley is gone, hikers will not be able to cross the South Fork of the Kings River. With higher tempratures, the crossing is high and swift with no apparnt safe alternate route. Streams and rivers will continue to rise with the extream heat. "

Note that this crossing was the cause of one of the recent PCT fatalities a few week's back.
