Backcountry Skiing in the Salmon Mountains and Trinity Alps

by Evan B » Thu Apr 04, 2019 7:32 pm

I've been trying to plan some day trips in the Trinity Alps and Salmon Mountains for back country skiing tours. I can't seem to find much online in terms of information.

Question:
What are some access points to get into the back country in the Trinity Alps or Salmon Mountains? I saw the Canyon Creek trailhead, but it looks like the road is not very passable in winter. Is this true? Are there any other popular access spots for back country touring?

Thanks!
Evan

Hey Evan — I’m new to the forum but had the same question. There’s not a lot of beta to be found on the internet. Did you ever find any approaches & skiable slopes for single-day trips? I’m used to Carson Pass/Truckee/Lassen where there are good route descriptions & maps. Let me know what you learned. —Michael in NorCal
