A British man has climbed the equivalent of Mount Everest — inside his own home

John Griffin used his coronavirus isolation time to climb enough stairs to equal the ascent of the world's tallest peak.

He took four days to climb the 41,000 steps of his virtual Everest — an achievement he says he's proud of, but that it was tedious and painful.

Somewhat more modest aspirations for me! Due to my age and vulnerability I started voluntary self-isolation in mid March. My exercise to start with was just jogging around the kitchen table. Last week, using my stairs, I did the lovely walk up the White Cliffs of Dover, from Folkestone Warren to the top. I've now started to climb Snowdon in Wales. Not sure how many days it will take, but it gets me away from working on my Short-eared Owl book in my study!

My first real walk up Snowdon was with no less than dadndave, and also Lolli, once from SP. We went up the Ranger path, and back down to Llanberis. This time I'm going up the Ryhd-Ddu path! I'll divert a little, to go over Bwch Main, which means I shall have to walk along the narrow hand rail next to the stairs when I get to that section.
