Poland

by AngusBeef » Wed Sep 04, 2019 4:09 am

Who here is from Poland? I'll be headed to Poland in a couple months and be staying there for several years as a minimum, would love to get networked in with some folks. I've been to the Tatras once and spent a lot of time in the Ukrainian Carpathians before.

Hey,
I will be there for 9 days during the last part of January 2020. Planning on climbing around the Morskie Oko Hut. Ill be solo so I’m climbing for a couple days with a local guide then would like to check out more of the moderate mixed climbs in the area. Let me know if you’ll be around and want to climb. Bringing full winter gear, rope, and rack.
Best wishes,
Max

I don't live there anymore but you'll enjoy the Tatras. Zakopane is where most people start off but remember that half the population of the country descend there when the holidays begin!

You can rent axes and crampons cheap enough in Zakopane from what I remember. I was able to hook up with a couple of climbers I met in huts but it can be hit and miss. Not much stuff available in English online but it's a cool spot for climbing. Always check in with the TOPR (Mountain Rescue) lads in the huts for up to date info on weather/avalanches, they're brilliant.

Hey :-)

Used to live in Nowy Targ, near the Slovak border, but moved for work to Gdańsk on the opposite side of the country.
I have as much authority as the Pope. I just don't have as many people who believe it.
