Hooray! Another New Zealand Page!

by hhsilleck » Mon Jun 12, 2006 11:06 pm

Hello everybody with an interest in the peaks of New Zealand -

I've added a new page and some pictures for Mount Angelus in Nelson Lakes National Park - let's keep the Kiwi pages coming!

Thanks,
Howie Silleck :D

Good one, Howie. Have you got more to put up? I'm planning on heading to NZ in Jan/Feb

One or two more maybe ...

I've been considering putting up another page or two - it might not be for a while though. I'm leaving for Peru in less than a week!

Cheers,
Howie

I'm jealous you're headed to NZ - any plans for the mountains while you're there?

Howie:

I'm planning a rematch with Mt Earnslaw, (Kea Basin-Wright Col route to East peak)

Then depending on how the weather has dealt the cards, I'd like to have a crack at a route on the mountain that (as far as my research suggests) has never been completed - funnily enough, the very first route ever attempted on the mountain by WS Green late in the 19th century (If you imagine the Earnslaw massif as a horseshoe with the open end facing south, the route is along the eastern ridge from the south).

Then (or alternatively) another crack at Mt Brewster (with a partner this time- soloing a choss heap is not a good plan!!!), Plan C is to have a go at Tapue O Uenuku if the weather on the divide is crap.

Sounds great dadndave! Good luck with Earnslaw - it's a pretty peak. I'd love to have a go at Tapue O Uenuku too ... following in Hillary's footsteps! Take lots of pictures to share.
