Weisshorn conditions

by emilaleksov » Tue Aug 08, 2006 9:26 am

Does anybody know what are the climbing conditions for Weisshorn east ridge (normal route) these days and if it is possible to camp near Weisshorn hut?

10x in advance! :-)

I have climbed the Dom the 24th July
At that time the normal way to Weisshorn was really rocky.
Almost all the snow below 4000m gone as well the summit looks stony

But now the forecast told snow has fallen

Good luck

In July I was also on Dom and the conditions was perfect. But now I heard the same- snow fallen- about 12 cm. I think that the best way is to phone and ask.
When you recevie any infos I'll be very grateful if you share it. Me and my friend will be trying to climb Weisshorn in late August.
Regards

I've just got back from Zermatt area- condition was bad- snowfall over 2500 meters, avalanche danger on many moutains/routes- especially on Weisshorn- according to mountain guide Gabriel Willisch- Weisshorn is unclimbable in this week- definitely too much snow.
Regards.
