Where to stay in La Paz?

by bledl » Wed May 23, 2007 4:50 pm

Hola everybody!
I will arrive next weekend in La Paz and forgot my guidebook. Looking for a good hostal. should be clean, safe, not too expensive (if that exists in La Paz) and perhaps a meeting place for international climbers there.

Thanx for your help. :D
Flo.

MaT,

Interesting that this is the hotel that I booked for our stay there. Looks like I did my research well, eh?

I stayed in several cheap and good places down there. (even a place with a Shuksan mural on the wall) they were all pretty reasonable. They were mostly in the tourist area of La Paz, though some were outside of that immediate area. I'm at work and don't have my notes with me, though you can pm me if you want more input.

Eva Palace Hotel

I highly recommend the Eva Palace Hotel on Calle Sagarnaga near Plaza San Francisco. Eva Palace is centrally located, has hot water all the time, private bathrooms, excellent and helpful staff, and is family owned and operated. They took excellent care of our luggage while we were in the mountains and the price seemed reasonable.[/url]

I reply a bit late :

Hotel Fuentes on Linares 888. Very nice place and well located.
18 USD for a double room, but you can bargain if you stay several days.

Bolivia has about the cheapest cost of living in America. After spending a week in the hills and 24 hours on a south american bus, staying at a $3 hostel in La Paz is like a paradise. Many places will have cheap internet available and lockers. Have fun!

Hostel Lobo, US2 day

Corner between Illampu and Santa Cruz st, one quarter from Sagarnaga St. and close to the bus station... good and cheap accomodations, clean restaurant...
