Hej!
Will be going to Russia next summer to try and summit Mt Elbrus with some friends. Am a big fan of ski mountaineering too and would be glad for some input on the topic of whether to bring skis for the descent or not? Anyone tried it? On what kind of equipment?

I know some people do it, but early in the season (april-may). I climbed last July. If you are an expert skier I'm sure its doable (you might have to take your skis off in 1 or 2 rocky sections though to avoid the risk of crevasses. When I was there in July, the snow was pretty hard high on the mountain, but not to the point that it wouldn't be skiable.
