by eric knoshaug » Thu Dec 18, 2008 7:07 pm

Hey all--I am going to have a week of free time in the French alps late may or early june 2009. Just wondering what would be good that ime of year. I was thinking of climbing Mont Blanc or maybe some ski mountaineering--like the haute route or something? Any thoughts would be appreicated--thanks!

I live in Chamonix and usually May is really good for ski touring/mountaineering. For more info on guided Haute Route on skis and some pictures look at http://www.mountain-spirit-guides.com/haute-route-winter.asp.
Mont Blanc is sometimes possible in May, but can be a lot of snow on the Cosmique side, and the Gouter side you'd have to walk from the valley since the train is not open yet.
Good luck!
